Purposeful Kitten (Prose)

Black striped, atop caramel covered fur, the tiny kitten, roamed the street at twilight. She padded along a pebbled path dazedly, lost in thought, unsure where to go… Stars shone bright in her green lamp like eyes, reflecting the dusky night. Tiny Kitten didn't notice though, until one such star shot across the moonlit sky. Hypnotized, launching herself from the ground, one claw raised, swiping the air, as if to capture it. Grievously in its fleeting, charm the star disappeared, leaving behind only the memory, of its wondrous sparkle. Disappointed the Kitten, returned to her doubtful dance.

An ebony raven cawed above her head, taking flight from a nearby limb. Greedily the Kitten watched as it took off becoming a deeper black shadow, a silhouette of the night. Wistfully wishing for her own set of wings, so capturing a shooting star, wouldn't be just a distant dream... Haunched on her heels, the kitten stood in the center of the road. Where should she go? Her four legs could only carry her North, East, South or West, feathers were what she lacked. Frustrated she chased her tail, running in circles like the needle of a compass, spinning wildly, pointing in every particular direction.

As if they were sounding sirens, headlights blinked upon her fur. Dropping her tail from her toothy tenure the little kitten chased them purposefully. Attempting to clutch the flying light, tucking it away as conquered prey. She bolted into the street, this time with two outstretched claws, propelling her body through the air. At first she thought she had them finally, but the artificial light was not her friend. its luminosity impacted her body, as a rock punctures the surface of the water. The kitten fell to the ground, collapsed in a lifeless heap, a paralyzed creature.  Unmoving a great raven, flew to where she lay. Tenderly holding her within his hands. The little kitten looked at her back, and she grew her own set of gossamer wings. Able to soar apart from the lost, the duo took off, side by flying into the night. Purposelessly wandering, weaving up and down in and out of the stars.
