Purposeful Kitten (Prose)

Black striped, atop caramel covered fur, the tiny kitten, roamed the street at twilight. She padded along a pebbled path dazedly, lost in thought, unsure where to go… Stars shone bright in her green lamp like eyes, reflecting the dusky night. Tiny Kitten didn't notice though, until one such star shot across the moonlit sky. Hypnotized, launching herself from the ground, one claw raised, swiping the air, as if to capture it. Grievously in its fleeting, charm the star disappeared, leaving behind only the memory, of its wondrous sparkle. Disappointed the Kitten, returned to her doubtful dance.

An ebony raven cawed above her head, taking flight from a nearby limb. Greedily the Kitten watched as it took off becoming a deeper black shadow, a silhouette of the night. Wistfully wishing for her own set of wings, so capturing a shooting star, wouldn't be just a distant dream... Haunched on her heels, the kitten stood in the center of the road. Where should she go? Her four legs could only carry her North, East, South or West, feathers were what she lacked. Frustrated she chased her tail, running in circles like the needle of a compass, spinning wildly, pointing in every particular direction.

As if they were sounding sirens, headlights blinked upon her fur. Dropping her tail from her toothy tenure the little kitten chased them purposefully. Attempting to clutch the flying light, tucking it away as conquered prey. She bolted into the street, this time with two outstretched claws, propelling her body through the air. At first she thought she had them finally, but the artificial light was not her friend. its luminosity impacted her body, as a rock punctures the surface of the water. The kitten fell to the ground, collapsed in a lifeless heap, a paralyzed creature.  Unmoving a great raven, flew to where she lay. Tenderly holding her within his hands. The little kitten looked at her back, and she grew her own set of gossamer wings. Able to soar apart from the lost, the duo took off, side by flying into the night. Purposelessly wandering, weaving up and down in and out of the stars.

Shadowed Green Eye

Enveloped in a blurr
Mintute by minute
Moments tick on her vision
Obscured by defiant
Raindrops refusing to cease.
Wandering across the mossy
Dirt path with only the
sliver of illumination
Grey clouds would let by...
she stumbled on
Clinging to dewy trees
For they were her
only source of support.
Angrily the sky cracked
Yelling its thunderous cry,
Vibrating down
into her bones
With shaky, chilly
Hands strangling
What lil heat still
Thrived
Blinded by the dark
Leaves took on new
haunting forms
Of shadowed spirits.
Bushes became
Knights battle axes
In hand...
So she kept running
In search of some other
Sight she scarecly hoped
To find
Her Thinking lapsed
As lightening
Lit up her eyes
Illuminating
A small shelter
But a few paces away
A fire brewed inside
Teasing her body
With its life like warmth.
Lustfully she trudged on
Through the unseen
Sludge
Finally raising an arm
To knock knock knock
At the door...
Loud cracks from the
Sky kept echoing in her ear...
She clung hopefully
To a hint off sounding steps
she was Losing faith as each second passed
Beginning to toy with walking away...
But someone answered the door.
Tall he stood
Glancing down
At her pitiful torrent torn
Hair...
She looked and stared
But she could not see him
For darkness
Blanketed the doorway...
But the sky had different
Plan in mind... It
Ignited a spark
Kinked down the middle,
Dangerously illuminating
Everything looking up and down
For that second they
Meet, eye to eye
Exchanging not one
Word but she saw him
In that moment
Everything felt
Clear...
Compassion
Gleamed in that green eye
Seeing simple beauty
Where it survived
But it was blinded of its true design
By its own unique, mind
Second stopped darkenness dropped
Window closed, she stood
Their cold desiring to be held
But kept waiting alone, for what was to unfold

Up the stream he
Marched
furry companion
Brushing at his side
The stormy sky
Brewed above
But unfettered
He navigated easily
Through the twisted
Path shadows
Nipped at his eyes
Casting dark looks
Across the landscape,
But he saw right through
Those, for he knew
Exactly what was real
Though they continued
Their dance unhindered
By hus awereness
On all four sides, leaping over
The little dog, his only
Innocent pride...
Onward he walked
Sure of his
Journey for he had
Sone this same thing
A million times.
Latern in hand he raised
It up high
For here alone
He had nothing to hide.
Crack thunder laughed
With its divine knowledge
Aware of a another
Human company...
Cold and wet
He felt,
 as the rain
Slapped his arms...
Dogged by the weight
Of the dark
He dreamt of the blazing
Fire that would soon
Light his hearth
Just a few more
Moments to go
Until he could open
His door and see
His small comfy cacoon
Of shelter and warmth
His dog barked and leapt
Through th sludge
In its element
Adapted to the worlds
harsh Conditions....
Reaching his secret
Shack he unbarred
The door...
Darkness consumed
His secluded sanctuary
Unconfidently he sauntered over
To the modest fireplace
Leaning down and igniting
A life like blaze.
Crackling it breathed away
Collapsing on the couch
His little dog jumped
Up content to lay
Perched on his
compassionate Lap.
Sky continued to rage
Outside, and the fire
Kept exhaling its reviving song
Listening the sounds singing
To his soul
He began to watch his eyelids
Flutter as he rested appreciating
The innocent beauty surrounding him
Until a sound he had not heard in
Years greeted his ears
A gentle knock, knock, knock
Tapped the door to his world.
He leapt up, reaching his hands
Across his face
As if to shield himself
From the misery of
Being seen
Tentatively he tip
Toed towards the door
Standing tall he opened
It ajar to see
A shimmer of a tiny shaking
Girl and her tossled hair
He stared unaware of
Exactly what to say...
Because what he
Uttered had to be
Said sure and true.
In the midst of his contemplation
Time halted
His mind gaped
As a kinked bolt
Of lighting shone bright
Cutting through the dark distance
In that instant they met
Eye to eye
And he saw her
A connection
Felt like it was forming
Hands reaching out
For but a frajile touch.
Sight beyond the superficial
Gleamed Enlightening his mind
Like he wouldnt believe...
Second stopped darkenness dropped
Window closed, he stood
Their cold desiring to hold her
But kept waiting alone for what was to unfold....

Reflection

Tears falling in torrents from the grey sky,
Patter upon her creaky roof.
Droplets lusting to fill the spaces of whatever they can,
Infiltrate each crack in her ceiling,
Unapologetically falling onto a dust ridden floor.
One by one they accumulate,
Drawn together with magnetic attraction.

Precariously she tip-toed towards their watery gathering.
With the illumination of naught but a candlelight,
She peered down at the puddle grasping at her feet.
A concealed figure gazed back at her,
Veiled and irresolute the girl
Wore a mask of emotionless expression.

She lingered entranced in unwavering consternation,
The guise she wore was not alien,
For she had numerous semblances.
It was unique though, in it's glimmer of awareness,
Detectable just above her dark angled eyebrow.

The veil recognized it’s shared similarity with its partners.
Parallel in their fervent desire,
To remain furtively and elusively undercover,
Shielding the veracity which lies shrouded,
Underneath their reflection.

Repentance

Gnawing, tearing, clawing, its way
from the inner core of her being,
painfully throbbing like blistered flesh
Roasted by an open flame.

Her soul pulsates with tidal waves of
Excruciating sorrow.
Poised upon an earthen floor, she was
Dying to set it free,
Desperately attempting to liberate the
Remorse reverberating inside her body
Release would not come.

Tears refused to manifest themselves
at the corners of her hazel eyes.
No matter how much she
Yearned to shed her overwhelming
Turmoil, to pluck it out as the
Robin does the earthworms,
littered beneath sodden grass, they
Recoiled in unflinching abnegation.

Glassy eyed she looked up at the
Midnight sky, expecting to be met
With only darkness.
Rather twinkling stars greeted her sight,
Radiating hope as they
Floated serenely, in the vast
expanse of darkness.
Reaching her breaking point pain ceased,

Regret was unmasked in the twilight
before her, as it truly is: intangible nothingness.
Reversal no longer mattered...
All that definitely did was
Infallible, veracious
Repentance.

Cloudy Liberation

Lofty, billowy clouds
Wander across the vast blue sky
Aimlessly drifting, for this is their job.
To float forward and back, down and up
Surveying the world below in splendid indifference.

Frequently they're content within this niche,
Simply floating by with a creamy white expression
Plastered about their vast expanse
Of a luxuriously, ever changing face.

Haphazardly, they feel the world below
Deserves a much needed cleansing.
How ever we might protest it is not our say.
We have no input in the matter
for we cannot stop the clouds.

Try though we might they are forever above our grasp
Never to be captured, conjured, or held.
Each one different from the next
Assuming the shape of whatever it desires to be,
Like a chameleon blending into the background,
becoming as it wants to be seen.

Collectively they pay us little mind
As we rarely give them much attention either.
For they are only ivory frosted scenery,
A negligible background, detached from
Our busy important daily life.

Oh but how lovely it would be
To waft through the sky as the puffy white cloud.
Cohesively separate, as I overshadow
Chaos of the mundane world below
Alive, with but one job:
Sliding about freely.

Balance

The sky inked the ground
with its dusky black pigment,
while a sliver of silvery moonlight
struggled to illuminate all it could.

Fall wind cut through the air
like daggers signifying the bone chilling wrath of Winter.
Snow flakes parachuted to the ground in trios
congregating on the frosted earth
ready to be trod upon.

Each one unique in shape and size
they comprehended what it meant to trampled
for as they gracefully tumbled
content enlightenment gleamed within each gelid glitter.

The old owl hooted within his misty hollow
yearning for the radiance of spring,
for the serenity of sunshine,
during distant days to come.
Though in the present he must tarry

For what is summer without winter?
What is darkness in the absence of light?
What is understanding apart from ignorance?
Would that there were balance as this world
Ceaselessly spins.

The archaic owl was wisdom for he
fathomed this veracity,
As he once again reverted to his intangible fantasy.

Uniformity

Queen of the forest, Maple stood tall and impressive.
Her Appendages reached out,
As if to touch those inferior
With mocking meliority.

Golden leaves clothed the Queen in her glory.
While one leaf stood apart from all others,
It gleamed a golden yellow as if spun from pure gold.
Palpating with scintillating beams of light,
It dwelt with a unique force of life
Different from the world which engulfed it.

A place of honour it hung,
bequeathing the Queen her power.

The Crisp autumn wind lusted after the leafs beauty,
Decidedly Wind stole the glowing leaf.
Leaving the Queen to wither
Void of her elegant beauty

Victorious in its burglary the brisk breeze slunk away,
Over the red and yellow hills Wind flew
Ceaselessly carrying it's helpless prize.
Meanwhile the impotent golden leaf struggled
Snatched from the only life it's known,
While the fear of the unknown loomed below.

Willfully, the leaf hung on in the hopes of home,
Until it could no longer,
Alas broken under pressure.
At last the howling halted,

While the once magnificent golden leaf,
Parachuted into the awaiting forests open arms.
Unintentionally analogous with everyone else.
